인체해부학은 의학과 보건학의 기본이 되는 학문이다. 해부학을 배우면 알게 되겠지만, 해부학은 단순히 글로 표현된 교과서만으로 공부할 수 없다.

이를 위해서 훌륭한 해부학 그림책, 동영상, 소프트웨어 등의 많은 자료가 만들어져 있으며 그 나름 해부학 공부에 많은 도움이 되지만, 해부학을 공부하는 근본적인 방법은 직접 해부를 하는 것이다. 그러나 시신해부는 해부학 그림책을 보듯이 늘 필요할 때마다 경험할 수 있는 것이 아니라는 문제가 있다. 이미 그려진 그림들에 스스로 색칠을 하는 적극적인 행위를 하도록 고안된 coloring book은 시신해부만큼은 아니지만 해부학 공부에 많은 도움이 되는 학습방법이다. 이 Netter’s 해부학 Coloring Book에 밑그림으로 사용된 그림은 가장 명성이 높은 해부학 삽화가인 Dr. Netter의 작품들로 다른 어떤 coloring book들과는 비교가 되지 않을 정도로 훌륭하다고 역자들은 자부한다. “이 책의 활용 방법”에 따라 즐겁게 이 책에 색칠한다면 여러분의 해부학 공부에 많은 도움이 될 것이다..

서문

사람해부학은 매혹적이지만 복잡한 과목이며, 우리 모두 흥미로워 하는 대상이기도 하다. 해부학을 배우는 것을 절대 어려워하지 않고, 즐길 수 있게 될 것이다. Netter’s 해부학 Coloring Book은 쉽고, 체계적이며, 즐겁게 사람해부학으로 탐험할 수 있도록 해줄 것이다. 이 coloring book은 모든 나이의 학생들을 위한 것이다. 단, 호기심만 미리 준비하라!

Netter’s 해부학 Coloring Book에 실린 그림들은 Frank H. Netter의 Atlas of Human Anatomy에 따로 모아둔 유명하고 멋진 사람해부학 그림을 기초로 한 것들이다. 이 해부학 그림책은 16개 언어로 번역되어 전 세계적으로 가장 널리 쓰이고 있다. Netter의 작품들은 오랜 시간 검증되었으며, 전 세계 수백만 학생들에게 사람해부학 지식을 전해주었다.

왜 coloring book이 필요할까? 나의 관점에서 볼 때 가장 큰 이유는 “적극적 학습”은 늘 수동적 학습을 이긴다는 것이다. 보고, 행동하고, 배우는 과정은 서로 같이 이루어진다. 다르게 표현하면 “눈에서 손으로 마음으로 기억으로”. 이것이 우리가 무언가를 가장 잘 배울 수 있는 방법이다. 교과서, 플래시카드, 비디오, 해부학 그림책 등은 사람해부학을 배우는 데 있어 나름 자기의 역할이 있지만, 스스로 적극적으로 학습에 참여하고, 공부를 잘 하려고 하는 행동들이 학습자료와 우리 기억을 단단히 엮어줄 것이다.
